Meeting Other Authors
The Joy of Networking
Another good weekend with The Lady in Gray.
I attended a Book Fair at Hocking Hills resort this past weekend and met another author whom I had met in Newark this past spring. James Colson is a fantasy writer, and I am excited to say he was the first author I have met twice. He and his wife have started their own bookstore, The Story Room, in Elida, Ohio. I wish they were closer than 100 miles, but we intend to join up in other book fairs.
There were a few authors from Columbus, so it made me happy to connect with them. One author actually said he had visited where The Lady in Gray is set, Camp Chase Cemetery. He had taken a tour of the southern section of Columbus.
I have resigned myself to the fact that advertising on Amazon was too costly. It could be because I write Historical Fiction, but the logarithms
were expanding the category of historical fiction across all centuries, which resulted in some really high costs. It wouldn’t let me opt out of those time periods, so I researched where I could better pinpoint my reader demographics. Marketing is a science. One that I am learning about daily.
I love to learn more about authors who write Historical Fiction. One of my favorites is Nancy Dafoe. She has written in my genre, Yet in the Land of Living, but she has now published a new poetry book, Got Some River in Us. Her website is a delight to see. https://www.nancydafoefiction.com
Wishing you Sunshine.
